Privacy policy

Who we are

This site is operated by Kilometer-Mileage.com ("we", "us"). For anything in this policy, write to contact@kilometer-mileage.com. We are the data controller for the limited information described below.

What we do not collect

• No name, email address or postal address, unless you choose to email us.
• No account, login or password.
• No payment details. Nothing on this site is for sale.
• No location data beyond the country-level inference any website can make from an IP address.
• No advertising or tracking profile built by us.

Your calculator inputs stay on your device

Every calculation here is performed by JavaScript running inside your own browser. Distances, fuel quantities, vehicle economy figures and fuel prices are never transmitted to us, never written to a database, and are gone as soon as you close the tab. We could not retrieve them if we wanted to.

Server logs

Like effectively every website, our hosting provider records a line for each request. A log entry contains your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, the HTTP status, the referring page and your browser's user-agent string.

We use these logs only to keep the site online, diagnose faults and detect abuse such as scraping or denial-of-service traffic. They are not combined with anything else, not used for marketing, and are deleted on the hosting provider's routine schedule. Under the GDPR our lawful basis is legitimate interests: running a secure, functioning website.

Cookies and local storage

We set no cookies of our own and store nothing in your browser's local storage. The cookie policy sets out the full detail, including what would change if advertising is introduced.

Third parties

Web fonts are self-hosted. Typefaces are served from our own domain, not from Google Fonts or any other font service. Your browser therefore makes no request to a third party for them, and no third party receives your IP address. This is deliberate: font services log the IP address of every visitor who loads a font, and a German court has held that embedding Google Fonts without consent breaches the GDPR.

No analytics, no social widgets, no embedded media. There is no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no Facebook pixel, no share buttons, no embedded video or map. When you load a page here, your browser talks to our server and to nobody else.

Hosting. Our hosting provider processes requests on our behalf and generates the server logs described above.

Advertising. The site currently carries no advertising. If that changes, the network will be named here before any ad is served, this policy will be updated first, and a consent banner will appear where the law requires one. Ad networks typically use cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure ads; you would be able to opt out of personalised advertising through the network's own controls and through optout.aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com.

International transfers

Our hosting and font providers may process requests on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where personal data covered by the GDPR is transferred, those providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved mechanism.

Data security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because we hold no accounts and no submitted data, the practical attack surface is small. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you send us by email, which is not an encrypted medium.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because we hold no accounts or profiles, in almost every case there is nothing to export or erase.

If you are in the UK or the EEA you may complain to your national supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA and CPRA, and we do not discriminate against anyone exercising their rights. To make any request, email contact@kilometer-mileage.com; we respond within one month.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We perform no cross-site tracking, so these signals have nothing to disable. Should advertising be introduced, we will honour Global Privacy Control signals where the law requires it.

Children

This is a general-audience utility, not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
