The mathematics is not ours and never could be. Conversion factors, formulas and physical constants are facts, and facts are not subject to copyright anywhere. Use them freely, with or without credit.
Typefaces
This site sets text in Overpass and Overpass Mono, designed by Delve Withrington and others, sponsored by Red Hat, and inspired by the Highway Gothic lettering used on United States road signage.
Both are licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1, which permits self-hosting
on commercial websites. The full licence text is distributed alongside the font files, in
/assets/fonts/OFL.txt, as the licence requires.
The files served here were converted to WOFF2 and subset to the Latin character set to reduce their size. Under the OFL, subsetting makes these Modified Versions. The 2021 release they are built from carries no Reserved Font Name, so the family name is retained; the earlier 2011 release did reserve the name, and anyone building from that version instead would need to rename their derivative.
Overpass is a registered trademark of Red Hat, Inc. Red Hat is not affiliated with this site and does not endorse it. The open licence covers the font software only and grants no rights in the name.
Trademarks belonging to others
Some pages mention other companies and products by name, because there is no other way to describe what the site does or does not do. Naming a company is not a claim to its mark and not a suggestion that it endorses us.

- Apple and Safari are trademarks of Apple Inc.
- Any other product or company name mentioned is the property of its respective owner.
All such references are nominative: they identify the thing being discussed and nothing more. Where we describe not using a service, that is a statement of fact about this site, not a comment on the service.
Standards and definitions
The conversion constants come from published international definitions rather than from any third party's data. The mile is fixed at exactly 1,609.344 metres by the 1959 international yard and pound agreement. The litre, the US liquid gallon and the imperial gallon are defined by their respective national measurement authorities. These definitions are in the public domain.
Software used to build the site
The calculators run on plain JavaScript written for this site. No third-party JavaScript library, framework, analytics package, advertising script or content delivery network is loaded on any page. Nothing here is bundled from someone else's codebase.
Reporting an attribution problem
If you own rights in something used here and believe it is credited incorrectly or used without permission, write to contact@kilometer-mileage.com. Tell us what the material is and what your rights in it are, and we will correct or remove it promptly. We would far rather fix an attribution than argue about one.
